The bus only comes once every hour, and if it is filled, you will not be able to board. The average journey time is 2 hours and 30 minutes but can be anywhere between 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. So, allow a travel time of at least 4 hours from Ubud to the airport by bus if you're travelling in the afternoon or late evening, as traffic can get quite bad.
Therefore, we only recommend you take the bus towards Ubud from the airport or, if you've left lots of time to check-in.

Here's an updated bus route map from Ubud to Bali airport.
Good To Know
- If you want to check the route on Google Maps, K4B represents Korridor 4 Bus (Corridor 4 Bus) and vice versa. You can also take the same bus route if you're heading from Bali airport to Ubud. However, Google Maps will not show you the live bus location, and it might not be updated too. We suggest downloading the Teman Bus app to check the bus schedule from Ubud to Bali airport. You will only be able to download this once you're in the country and as it is not available on international app stores.
- Before boarding each bus, make sure you ask the bus operator whether it is going in the correct direction. This is because there are multiple buses stopping at the same station. In addition, the signs in front of buses are often abbreviated. For example, Bandara is short for Bandara Ngurah Rai and means it will head towards Ngurah Rai International Airport.
- Some older sources will point you to take a privately operated shuttle bus in Ubud town for 50,000 IDR and then take the Corridor 2 bus route on Trans Sarbagita Bus (old name for Teman Bua) for 3,500 IDR. This is dated as the Corridor 2 bus route has changed and no longer stops at the Batubulan bus station. The prices have also increased to 4,400 IDR one way.
- When you’re within the Ubud area, there are privately operated shuttle buses like Kura Kura, which will take you between Ubud, Kuta, Seminyak and Sanur. Make sure you don’t get on one by accident, as the price for one way is usually 100,000 IDR.
Ubud to Airport by Taxi (Private Transfer)
Ubud to Bali Airport by taxi is the fastest and most convenient way to get to and from Ngurah Rai International Airport. It will take about 1 hour and 30 minutes on average, depending on the time and day you travel.
Going by taxi was the best option for us for a few reasons. Firstly, we had heavy luggage and didn't want to carry it off and on 3 different buses. Secondly, having read bad reviews and heard from other locals in Bali how unreliable the bus is, we decided it was better to go by taxi.
Ubud to Airport Taxi Price
If you ask your hotel or accommodation to call an Ubud taxi to Denpasar airport, you should expect to pay a taxi fare between 250,000 IDR to 300,000 IDR.
You can also use Grab or Gojek, two popular Southeast Asian ride-hailing apps. These are usually cheaper than Ubud taxis. However, local groups don't like the use of these services as they keep the taxi fares in Ubud low. Therefore, Ubud hotels may encourage you to use a local taxi rather than Grab or Gojek.
We decided to use Grab to get us from Ubud to our departure gate for our Bali trip. We paid 218,000 IDR, which is lower than the average price of 250,000 IDR as we travelled on a weekday during the off-peak season.
However, if you're travelling at odd times, like in the middle of the night or early hours in the morning, we suggest booking a taxi ahead of time with your accommodation. This is because Grab doesn't allow you to book in advance. There's no guarantee you'll find a taxi at odd hours, and prices can also be inflated.
Pro Tip: If you like a particular taxi, Grab or Gojek driver during your travels in Bali, we recommend asking for their phone or Whatsapp number. Then, you can directly arrange your transport from Ubud to Bali Airport with them.
By Car or Motorbike
You can also drive from Ubud by car or by motorbike if you're travelling light. We don't recommend driving yourself by car or going by motorbike for a few reasons.
The price of renting a car is about the same price as getting a taxi. The car option is worth it if you're planning to drive to a few more Ubud attractions before your flight. Or if you've already got yourself a monthly or weekly rental rate.
We had similar considerations for our journey from Canggu to Ubud about renting a motorbike. There are a lot of illegitimate motorbike rentals in Bali, and we didn’t want to risk getting a broken motorbike. Also, we would have had to return the motorbike somewhere, and we didn't want the hassle on the day of flying out of Bali.
However, if you're considering this option, we suggest you book with a reliable company that has good online reviews. Make sure they also allow you to drop off the motorbike close to your flight terminal. You can usually choose this option when you first book online and choose the pickup and drop-off point.

If you're not short on time, consider taking the bus from Ubud towards Kuta or Seminyak the day before and going to the airport from there.
Going to DPS airport from Seminyak or Kuta is a lot cheaper as it's only 20 minutes away. Also, you'll have a lot more travel options as there are more bus routes and taxi options. Grab and Gojek is also more competitive in this area, which means you might get cheaper prices.
